About AADA Queensland

The Australasian Doctors Association of Queensland (AADA Inc) was incorporated in 1992. Members are qualified medical graduates comprising mainly Chinese general practitioners and specialists in various medical disciplines. Other Asian doctors as well as Australian doctors are welcomed as bona fide members; hence the name of “Australasian” was chosen. The association is affiliated with interstate Australian Chinese Medical Associations (including ACMA Auckland) under the auspices of Australian Council of Chinese Medical Association (ACCMA).

The association was formed for the benefit of Asian doctors to foster friendship among themselves as well as Australian doctors who appreciate the Chinese culture and gourmet cuisine. Continuing medical education (CME) is organized as dinner meetings in Chinese restaurants once every four to six weeks throughout the year.

Chinese New Year is an important festival for the Chinese but other nationalities also join in the festivities. AADA organizes a separate celebration annually and spouses are encouraged to attend and to enjoy the special banquet, lion dance, music and dancing.

Annual Medical Conference in Queensland is held over a long weekend at different tourist resorts and children are welcome to attend.

Interstate ACCMA Conferences are held annually, rotating among the affiliated member states. Queensland hosted the 2007 ACCMA Scientific Conference at the Conrad Jupiter Casino, Gold Coast and was well supported by interstate doctors as well as pharmaceutical companies. This was our second ACCMA Conference. Our first effort was in 2000 at the Marriott Resort in the Gold Coast with the theme of “Medicine in the New Millennium”.

AADA was formed with the encouragement of the drug companies and they have been our enthusiastic supporters for the last 15 years. Over the years, we had been able to sponsor some overseas doctors to come and improve their skills as well as supporting some charitable organisations in various projects.

We encourage younger doctors to join the AADA. We need the enthusiastic support and new ideas of the younger generation who can contribute towards the future development of the association.
