• The Australasian Doctors Association of Queensland (AADA Inc) was incorporated in 1992. Members are qualified medical graduates comprising mainly Chinese general practitioners and specialists in various medical disciplines. Other Asian doctors as well as Australian doctors are welcomed as bona fide members; hence the name of “Australasian” was chosen. The association is affiliated with interstate Australian Chinese Medical Associations (including ACMA Auckland) under the auspices of Australian Council of Chinese Medical Association (ACCMA).

AADA member newsletter:


1. We had a very educational talk by Dr Yong Wee on "Marfan syndrome explained" on the 7/8/18, which was also our AGM and we thank all the members that were able to attend, the committee is honoured to be able to serve all the members again for the next 12 months.


2. AADA /ACCMA Medical conference 29/9/18 - 1/101/8 The Star Gold Coast

AADA will be hosting our National weekend conference ( Australian Council of Chinese Medical Associations ACCMA) from 29/9/18 till 1/10/18 this year at The Star Gold Coast. We welcome our interstate and New Zealand delegates that will be joining us.

The conference registration includes sunday lunch, 2 nights accomodation and 2 buffet breakfasts.

The topics include "Headaches and Chiari Malformation" "Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea"


3. Next AADA dinner meeting is scheduled for 7/11/18, Topic/Speaker TBA, venue will be Gambaro Restaurant, the RSVP will be emailed.

Abstract:

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) represents a major concern for our healthcare systems, being ranked as the fifth leading cause of death in Australia and significantly affecting the quality of life of patient(1). Both non-pharmacological approaches and pharmacological therapies are important in the management of management of COPD(2). With the recent introduction of additional pharmacotherapies, there is now a wider choice for healthcare professionals to consider, which has its advantages and disadvantages. A greater selection to choose from enables healthcare professionals to select the best possible therapeutic option for individual patients.
