• The Australasian Doctors Association of Queensland (AADA Inc) was incorporated in 1992. Members are qualified medical graduates comprising mainly Chinese general practitioners and specialists in various medical disciplines. Other Asian doctors as well as Australian doctors are welcomed as bona fide members; hence the name of “Australasian” was chosen. The association is affiliated with interstate Australian Chinese Medical Associations (including ACMA Auckland) under the auspices of Australian Council of Chinese Medical Association (ACCMA).

HappyChinese New Year! Recently the BMW AADA Chinese New Dinner was held at Yum ChaOriental Restaurant. The evening was a memorable one with five lions dancingthrough the crowd and a delicious banquet. Several lucky members wonfantastic prizes from the raffle, including mini iPADs, hampers, McWilliamswines and more. Thanks to members' generosity and support, over $1500 wasraised for medical equipment for the Bir Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Should any members wish to do a presentation at an AADA dinner meeting orweekend conference, please arrange for a sponsor who will finance the event. Please then direct the sponsor to contact Dr Rose Nui (
rose.niu@gmail.com) or DrKim Chye (kchye@bigpond.com).

This is a kind reminder to RSVP to dinner meetings before RSVP date using thelink in your emailed newsletter. Members who attend meetings but have notRSVPed will be turned away at the door. We will have to enforce this as therehave been issues with catering for unexpectedly large numbers at times.

On the other hand, at times there has been a very high non-attendance rate.Occasionally sponsors have been particularly disappointed with the empty seats.Members may not be aware that seats are paid for despite"non-attendance" as the numbers are confirmed with restaurants a fewdays prior to the dinner meeting. Should you not be able to attend ameeting when you have RSVPed already, please email
aadaqld.com, preferably at least 48hours before themeeting.

Members who fail to attend (without notice) two or more meetings after theyhave RSVPed, will not be awarded with a special gift at the end of the financialyear. Members will be given one chance, as we appreciate that life can beunpredictable. We appreciate your understanding.

If you have any medical colleagues or friends wishing to join, please referthem to the AADA website (
www.aadaqld.com.au).

Please wear your AADA name badges at meetings. If you forget your badge, badgescan be purchased at the door for $2. Only members who wear their badges will beentered in the draw for the lucky door prize, kindly sponsored by SullivanNicolaides Pathology.
